About us

Thirty years on the ridge

A small family estate that made Vermentino and its hill a way of life.

Podere Lavandaro is a family-run winery in Fosdinovo, a beautiful village on a hill ridge 350–480 metres above sea level, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany.

The first bottles arrived in 1989. It was the start of a journey of patient experimentation in the vineyard and in the cellar, carried on full-time by Marco Taddei with skill and devotion.

Since 2016-17 he has been joined by his son Francesco, who trained and qualified as an AIS Sommelier: a new generation bringing study and curiosity, without losing the bond with the family tradition.

For over thirty years we have been committed to championing Vermentino and the area’s other traditional grapes β€” Vermentino Nero, Canaiolo, Merlot, Sangiovese β€” alongside a distinctive and original passito made from Vermentino.

How we work

  • 01

    Natural methods

Soil is managed through controlled grassing. Against vine diseases too we rely on natural methods, for a low environmental impact and in full respect of integrated pest management.

  • 02

    Respect for the grape

In the cellar we intervene as little as possible: we want the glass to keep the aromas and flavours that come straight from the grape and the hill.

  • 03

    Family scale

A deliberately small production, cared for at every stage β€” from pruning to bottling β€” by the hands of the same family.
